Mahakali - Anth Hi Aarambh Hai (English: Mahakali - The end marks the beginning) is a Hindi mythological television show, that aired on Colors TV.

The main protagonist of the show is the Hindu Goddess Parvati and her alter ego, Mahakali. The show’s plot is loosely based on the events of the Hindu Scriptutre Devi Mahatmyam, with the writers creatively fleshing out emotions, drama and interconnected storylines to establish a continuity set within the Hindu mythological universe. Mahakali’s plot also adapts stories from other famous Shakta and Shaiva texts like the Kalika Purana, Devi-Bhagavata, Shiva Purana and Linga Purana, that have to do with the evolution of the sweet and submissive Parvati into the wild and untamed Mahakali.

Pooja Sharma plays the role of the titular characters, Parvati and Mahakali.[1] Saurabh Raj Jain effortlessly essays the role of Lord Shiva, Kanan Malhotra as Lord Vishnu, Nikita Sharma as Goddess Laxmi, Meghan Jadhav as Kartikey and Krish Chauhan as Lord Ganesh.

And as additional information, some fans mahakaali feel panic, because of how Colors TV injustice posted of a new season mahakali,it will be set only until August 5 2018.

Plot

Parvati is introduced as a good, sweet, motherly and docile woman who, like every other individual of the time period, is brainwashed into believing men are superior to women. Shiva, her husband doesn't believe that. He along with Lord Vishnu orchestrates Parvati receiving a vision of Mahakali, a terrific warrior goddess, killing armies of demons.

Like most stories in Hindu Mythology, this story begins with the war between the gods and the demons. However, this time, the gods defeated and driven out of their homes in heaven. They are forced to seek refuge with Parvati and Shiva, at their home in mount Kailash.

The demon king and Primary antagonist, Shumbh sends his messengers to Kailash, declaring war upon Shiva and Parvati for sheltering the gods. But smitten by Parvati's beauty, the demons retreat without saying much and inform Shumbh and his simpleton brother Nishumbh of Parvati's gorgeousness.

Meanwhile, Shiva Informs Parvati and the gods that only a woman can kill the demon duo due to a celestial boon. He also taunts Parvati, telling her that it was ineligent of the demons to get such a specific boon, as no woman is tough enough to battle men. Parvati silently nods, and Shiva wows to change her opinion.

The demon king's envoy arrives with Shumbh's proposal: if Parvati were to marry Shumbh, he would give up on hunting the gods. The gods violently react to the messenger's words, threatening to kill him. But Parvati stops them and declines Shumbh's proposal, but also warns the demon to use his better judgement and not disrespect a woman. She then shows him out.

Parvati complains to Shiva of her mistreatment. He simply replies with "Why do women come to men to solve their problems. Women need to fight their own battles." And then proceeds to speak in metaphoric sentences that become crucial to Parvati only later. He falls into a trance, as he usually does and Parvati is left to ponder on the meaning of his words.

Out of reverence to Parvati's gentleness and hospitality, the gods vow to protect her. Undetterred, Shumbh sends his trusted, Dhumralochan to bring Parvati to hell, his capital by force. When he attacks with an army of 60,000 men and insults the intelligence of women, Parvati loses her temper and screams loudly into space. Due to the cosmic vibrations from her shriek, Dhumralochan and his army are turned to dust.

This marks the beginning of Parvati's transition into the warrior Goddess Mahakali. It is at this moment that the other Goddesses like Lakshmi and Sarasvati realize that there is something different about Parvati.

Shumbh is infuriated and sends another horde of demons to bring Parvati to him and defeat the gods. In this war, the gods are led by the Goddess Narasimhi who, due to her horrific appearance is mistaken to be the warrior goddess from Parvati's vision.

As the demons slaughtered god after another, the commanders, Chand and Mund make a dash for Goddess Lakshmi, who they decide to kidnap.

As she watches in horror, Parvati remembers something Shiva had told her earlier before he went into a trance : "If a woman gives up her 'shanka' (doubt, hesitation, fear) she becomes 'Shankar' (God, supreme force). And this end will mark a greater beginning." Parvati rushes forwards to protect Goddess Lakshmi who is trying to defend herself but in vain.

As she runs towards the demons, her anger crosses all bounds, she rids herself of all her hesitations and fears and transforms herself into Goddess Kali, the warrior.

Parvati, who was white-skinned (Gauri), naive, innocent and the tamer of Shiva morphs into Mahakali, who is bluish black-skinned (Kali), fierce, brave and is untamed by Shiva. She is armed with a scimitar, has her hair in a disarray and a garland of demon heads around her neck and an apron of demon arms around her waist.

As she descends upon the demon army, she destroys them by hundreds and thousands, including Chand and Mund, earning herself the epithet of "Chamunda".

She motivates the other Goddesses to also give up their hesitations and learn to fight for themselves. She tells them that whenever mankind treats a woman less than anything she deserves, she has all the rights to turn into Kali.

The goddesses Lakshmi, Sarasvati, Narashimhika, Aranyani and Indrani join her in battle assist her in destroying the demons. (A nod to the Saptamatrikas by the creators of the show)

The demon king then sends Raktabija, a demon famous as being Mahakali's Primary enemy. He had the ability to create a clone of himself from every fallen drop of his blood.

Each time a goddess struck him, another Raktabija was born. Kali then drinks up all the blood that oozes out of Raktabija's self and drains him completely of his pseudo-nectar, killing him.

She chops off the head of the first Raktabija and runs amok on the battleground, murdering all those who came in her way.

To stop her rampage, Shiva awakens from his trance and lies down in front of Kali. She steps on him, realizes that she had stepped on her husband (which is a sin in Indian culture) and sticks out her tongue in shame.

Ashamed of what she had done, Kali turns back into Parvati. Shiva makes her realize that she did nothing wrong, but Parvati is also bothered by the fact that Kali had to manifest in her and not any other woman at the time of need. She realizes that there is something more to her than just a housewife.

She embarks on a journey away from Kailash on the mission of self-realization, where she is introduced to Goddess Sati, her previous incarnation, by Shiva who acts as her guide. On the way, she meets Ambika, of whom she is a manifestation of. Parvati realizes that she was Sati in her previous incarnation where married Shiv against her Father's Will and during a Yagna hosted by her Father, when he did not invite her, she went there but her Father insulted her and Shiva due to which she burnt herself alive. As she was a form of Adi Parashakti and Shiva's Shakti, the wrath of Shiva and Shakti, Bhadrakali slayed her Father. Then she took a new incarnation as Parvati and married to Shiva. Parvati realizes that she is in fact Mahakali. She returns to Kailash.

Demon King Shumbh along with Daruka make a plan to capture Parvati not knowing that she is in fact Mahakali. Parvati falls in trap and upon realizing the truth, turns into Mahakali and Kills Daruka's abusive husband Daruk. Demon king now take Help of Tarakasur who has the boon to be killed by only Son of Shiva and Parvati. But due to a Curse given By Devi Rati who is Kamdev's wife and Kamdev burnt by Shiva, Parvati cannot conceive. Shiva then tells Parvati that Shiv and Shakti also known Purush and Prakriti are present in every form of universe. Everything in the universe is a creation of their energies and with the help of their energies they create an Energy Ball. Meanwhile, Shumbh and Tarakasur take ashes of Kamdev and turn him into a demon Bhandasur whom they appoint to destroy the energy ball. Parvati then takes the form of Lalita Tripura Sundari and kills Bhandasur. But Tarakasur manages to put the energy ball in river Ganga. Parvati is angry and broken. However she manages to go near the Ganga where she finds 6 small energy balls which transform into 6 children, taken by 6 Kritikas. Parvati enters into Kritika lok and wants to take them back. She joins all 6 of them into one single child. She decides to name the son Kartikeya or Skanda. She decides to keep Kartikeya in Kritika lok for his safety. After few years Kartikeya grows into a teenager when Parvati meets him and tell him about his past and his aim to kill Tarakasur. First Reluctant, Kartikeya agrees to his mother and along with Shiva, Parvati as Mahakali teach Kartikeya to be a Warrior. Mahakali transforms into a Weapon and Kartikeya along with the Weapon kill Taraksur.

The show then shifts to Bhringi Rishi who believes that Men are great and women are the shadows of men, who decides to visit Kailash and pray to Mahadev but refuses to pray to Parvati. Shiva tells that Shiv and Parvati are same just as Shiv and Shakti. Shiv is himself Half men and along with his Shakti, Half women earning the Name as Ardhanareshwara. But Bringi rishi does not want to believe him and tries to separate Shiv and Shakti from Ardhanareshwara, which makes both Shiva and Parvati angry. She invokes all the Characteristics and Body parts from Rishi Bhringi's body which are part of the human body due to Prakriti. Bhringi becomes paralyzed and realizes that without Prakriti, Purush is incomplete and of no use of his own and that Without Prakriti human body is just like a dead body. He realizes his mistake and prays to both Shiv and Shakti. Parvati forgives him and Shiva gives him a third leg for his walking. Bringi Rishi then prays to both Shiva and Shakti in the form of Ardhanareshwara.

Meanwhile, Indra and Kartikeya fight over a difference in which Indra provokes Kartikeya to fight against him. Kartikeya uses his powers and kills Indra. All the gods and Tridev and Parvati arrive at the spot. The Tridev give Life to Indra and Mahadev Punishes Kartikeya for his mistake. Parvati interrupts and takes the curse herself to be reborn. Meanwhile, Shumbh reaches to Mahishasur, the bull demon to get rid of Mahakali. Mahishasur gets into deep Tapasya to Brahma and receives a boon that only a Female having the powers of Tridevs can kill him. Meanwhile, Parvati is born to a fisherman named as Matsya Parvati. They manage to hold him till Mahakali arrives and frees Brahma. Mahishasur holds Kartikeya and asks Mahakali to stop or else he would kill Him. Mahakali stops and turns into Parvati. Mahishasur then gives Parvati a choice to either save her son and sacrifice her life or let her son die. She decides to sacrifice her life and save her son but only by a weapon made by Tridevs. Brahma gives his Brahmastra, Vishnu gives his Sudharshan Chakra and Shiva his Trident. All three weapons move towards Parvati but instead of sacrificing her, they give power to her, the power of Tridevs. She Transforms into a more powerful form of Shakti, having shakti of Tridevs, Mahishasurmardini, Devi Katyayeni who wounds Mahishasur badly.
