Maddington railway station is a railway station on the Transperth network. It is located on the Armadale line, 17.7 kilometres from Perth station serving the suburb of Maddington. Even after the multi-million dollar upgrade the station remains a very unpleasant and poorly planned facility in terms of shade, cleanliness, safety. there is often an overwhelming odour from the rubbish truck depot less than 100 metres away from the ticket machine. When "upgraded" new seating was added, a snaking cement bench decorated with indigenous mosaic art where the ample seating of what used to be the brick ledge of a garden bed was before demolition. This snaking bench obviously caused concerns as they decided to cement an excessive quantity of big metal studs into it to keep skateboarders away. This is a good idea just not on a seat, it feels like anti homeless spikes so much that within the first year close to half of the studs had been removed with brute force taking a sizable portion of the cement with them. The seat remains in disrepair and therefore can actually serve its purpose.

History

From 26 December 1895 until February 1952, Maddington was the junction for a 700-metre branch line to Canning Racecourse.[1][2]

In 2013, a major upgrade was completed to the station.[3][4]
