Star Maa is the one of the Telugu-language television channel based in Hyderabad, India. STAR MAA TV and its subsidiary channels are part of 21st Century Fox's STAR India network.

In February 2015, Star India, a unit of 21st Century Fox, has acquired the entire broadcast business of MAA Television Network Ltd for 2,500 crore (US$350 million). The major channels of Telugu language are owned by either a Ramoji Group, national network or a network from their neighboring states.

In terms of programme ratings, STAR MAA, the main General Entertainment Channel (GEC) in the network, is among the top 20 TV channels in India.

MAA Television Network Limited as a corporate entity was formed in 2001 and the main GEC channel, MAA TV, was launched in 2002. The second channel, MAA Music, was launched in 2008.

It is one of the Telugu-language TV channels. The channel is available on cable, DTH and IPTV platforms in India. In the USA it is available through Dish TV and IPTV. It is now available in Singapore on IPTV Singtel mio TV Channel 671. Star Maa is also available in countrysMalaysia on Cable TV ABNXcess on Channel 583 and Dubai.

Popularity

Daily serials such as Kodala kodala koduku pellama and Chinnari Pellikuturu. And also Radha-Madhu, ammamma.com, Laya, Maa Pasalapoodi Kathalu helped in maintaining the channel's popularity. MAA TV expanded its operations with the launch of MAA Music channel in 2005. In 2011 it launched two new channels, MAA Movies and MAA Juniors. MAA Juniors channel ceased operations on 25 January 2012. A new entertainment channel, MAA Gold, was launched on 4 February 2012 during the MAA Music Awards event.[1]

CineMAA awards

Maa TV presents the CineMAA Awards to Tollywood personalities every year. The trophy was designed by Neil Foley Designs.[2]
