List of songs recorded by the Beatles

The following is a table of songs recorded by the Beatles. While Bill Wyman of Vulture.com lists a set 213 Beatles compositions,[1] there are a total of 305 songs listed on this page, with 69 of them being cover songs and 236 being original compositions.

  • The columns Title, Year, and Album debut list each song title, the year in which the song was recorded, and album(s) on which the song originally appeared including original compilations such as A Collection of Beatles Oldies, the red and blue albums, and so on.[2]
  • Album debuts pertain only to the EMI-related Parlophone (UK), Capitol (US) and Apple (UK and US) releases. Titles with one album debut entity simply means that they appear on both UK and US versions of that album (The UK and US versions of Rarities are listed separately as they are completely unrelated)
  • The tracks from Magical Mystery Tour are shown as a single entity. Although originally released in the UK as a double-EP which only includes the tracks from the film, the 11-track US album was imported to the UK shortly after its initial release
  • The column Songwriter(s) lists the writer(s) of each song. Many songs credited to "Lennon–McCartney" were written by John Lennon or Paul McCartney alone, or with minor input from the other. Those credits are listed here as follows:
Lennon and McCartney: Songs written (as Lennon once said) "eyeball to eyeball" (for example, "She Loves You" and "I Want to Hold Your Hand").
Lennon, with McCartney or McCartney, with Lennon: Songs with one main composer (the given name listed), but where the other made some noteworthy contribution; for example, cases where one wrote or rewrote some of the lyrics or melody, or where one wrote the verse and the other wrote the "middle eight" or bridge section, or gives the other an unfinished song to merge with an almost complete song (for example, "I've Got a Feeling", "A Day in the Life", or "We Can Work It Out").
Lennon or McCartney: Songs that were not co-written (e.g., "Cry Baby Cry" or "All My Loving").
