List of garden squares in London

This is a list of garden squares broadly defined.

Criteria

This list comprises all places equivalent to the paradigm garden square and so qualify as a garden square in London. Unlike the list at Squares in London, which partially overlaps, these places all have a clear communal garden element and may be named other than Square; commonly in order, Gardens, Crescent, Place, Fields and Circus reflecting the diversity of the city's complex street layout. The non-square examples are only included in this list if strongly, inherently notable for architecture, use or size; this selectivity is commonly used in studying the history and use of such spaces due to a large number of public greens, verges and crescents outside of the Central London and a few large public green places named Common or Park which may be surrounded by housing or other buildings. Some officially named Squares (streets and/or spaces) in London are triangular or a circle (circus), for example Wilton Square is triangular, Hanover Square is an oval this explains why this list is not confined to squares. This list is based on substance, not name. Several of the Squares in the Squares in London list have lost their square status altogether and a large minority there are town squares.
