List of former or dissident LDS
This is a list of well-known Mormon dissidents or other LDS Church members who have either been excommunicated or have resigned from the church – as well as of individuals no longer self-identifying as LDS. In a very few cases, the list below may include former adherents of other Latter Day Saint movement denominations who have ceased identifying as Mormon, as well.
The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints
Although The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS Church) does not regularly disseminate information about the excommunication or resignation of former members, persons who are here identified as having been excommunicated or resigned from the church have made such information public. In addition to former members of the LDS Church, there are a small number of adherents of related denominations (as labeled).

Thorne grew up in an academic, Mormon family in Utah but is now an atheist. "There are large numbers of my finest colleagues who are quite devout and believe in God, ranging from an abstract humanist God to a very concrete Catholic or Mormon God. There is no fundamental incompatibility between science and religion. I happen to not believe in God."
