This is a list of the first minority male lawyer(s) and judge(s) in Maryland. It includes the year in which the women were admitted to practice law (in parentheses). Also included are women who achieved other distinctions such becoming the first in their state to obtain a law degree or become a political figure.

  • John R. Hargrove Sr. (1950):[2] First African American male appointed as an Assistant U.S. Attorney for the District of Maryland (1957) and the Administrative Judge of the District Court of Maryland for Baltimore City (1971)
  • Joseph C. Howard Sr. (1955):[3] First African American male appointed as a Judge of the U.S. District Court for the District of Maryland (1979)
  • Robert M. Bell (1969):[4] First African American male appointed as the Chief Judge of the Maryland Court of Appeals (1996)
  • Eric J. Nee (1987):[5][6] First Chinese American male judge in Maryland (2014)
  • Theodore D. Chuang (1994):[7][8][9] First Asian American appointed as a Judge of the U.S. District Court for the District of Maryland. He is considered the first Asian American male judge to sit on the federal bench in Maryland's history.
