List of communes of Basilicata

The southern Italian Region of Basilicata, also known as Lucania, has two provinces: the Province of Matera and the Province of Potenza. The provinces are further divided into communes (Italian: comuni), or municipalities.

When addressing an envelope, the 2 letter abbreviation (MT) for Matera or (PZ) for Potenza follows the name of each comune, depending on the province in which it is located. For example: Comune di San Fele (PZ). The parenthesis are not required and although the Italian Postal Service might be able to figure out where something is to be delivered should you not use them it is much clearer if you refer to Municipalities by also including their 2 letter province code.
