List of breweries in New York
New York State, one of the fifty states of the United States of America, is home to more than 320 beer breweries,[1] as well as numerous brewpubs and bars. Throughout the last decade, the consumption of craft beer has grown to be a part of the state's culture. The following is a partial list of breweries located in the state.
Breweries
- Blue Point Brewing Company – Patchogue – bottles, cans, taproom, opened in 1998, acquired by Anheuser-Busch InBev in 2014
- Brewery Ommegang – Cooperstown – bottles, brewpub, opened in 1997, acquired by Duvel Moortgat Brewery in 2003
- Brooklyn Brewery – Williamsburg, Brooklyn – bottles, cans, taproom; opened in 1988
- Captain Lawrence Brewing Company – bottles, brewpub; opened in Pleasantville in 2006; moved to Elmsford in 2012.
- Dundee Brewing Company – Rochester – bottles, cans, opened in 1994; part of the Genesee Brewing Company
- Empire Brewing Company – Syracuse – bottles, brewpub, opened in 1994
- Flying Bison Brewing Company – Buffalo – bottles, taproom, opened in 2000
- Genesee Brewing Company – Rochester – bottles, cans, brewpub; founded in 1878, it's one of the oldest breweries in the U.S.; now owned by North American Breweries
- Great South Bay Brewery – Bay Shore – bottles, taproom, opened in 2009
- Matt Brewing Company – Utica – founded in 1888, one of the oldest breweries in the U.S.; makers of Saranac beer
- Rohrbach Brewing Company – Rochester – cans, two brewpubs, opened in 1991
- Shmaltz Brewing Company – Clifton Park – makers of He'Brew Beer; bottles, taproom; founded in 1996; the beer was contract brewed until they opened their own brewery in 2013
- Sixpoint Brewery – Red Hook, Brooklyn – cans, opened in 2004
- War Horse Brewing Company – Geneva – cans, taproom, opened in 2008

- Beverwyck Brewery – Albany
- Dobler Brewing Company – Albany
- Ebling Brewing Company – The Bronx
- F. & M. Schaefer Brewing Company – Manhattan
- Haffen Brewing Company – The Bronx
- Lion Brewery – Manhattan. In 1895, it was the sixth-largest brewery in the United States.[2]
- Piels Beer – East New York, Brooklyn
- Rheingold Beer – Bushwick, Brooklyn
- William Ulmer Brewery – Bushwick, Brooklyn
Other beer companies
- North American Breweries is based in Rochester and owns the Genesee Brewing Company, Pyramid Breweries, Magic Hat Brewing Company, and Portland Brewing Company. They are also the U.S. importer for the Labatt Brewing Company. North American Breweries is owned by Cerveceria Costa Rica, a subsidiary of Florida Ice and Farm Company.[3]
