Because of the rapid string of changes that have been happening lately in Thomas' life, he is feeling more sentimental and out of place than usual, and this reflects on Patton being extremely sentimental and out of place too. It is Anxiety who points out that Thomas feels this way because he spends too much time away from his friends and he needs them to gain balance and consistency in his life. 201"Fitting In (Hogwarts Houses)"Thomas Sanders & Joan StokesSeptember 1, 2017 (2017-09-01)

Thomas has just dyed his hair purple; and as a result, the Sanders Sides have developed purple hair too, so they rise up to show their opinion. Logan hates it, while Roman and Patton love it. But Virgil is afraid that standing up like that will make Thomas look like "the odd one out". Roman soon identifies that Virgil's fear is because Virgil has been the "odd one out" in the group after so many rejections, so Thomas decides to use the Hogwarts Houses from the Harry Potter books to sort the Sanders Sides and find out where Virgil fits in, so that he feels more included and more a valuable part of the group.[21]

Note: Last time the Sanders Sides wear the season 1 classic Vine/Sanders Shorts costumes. At the end of this episode, the Sanders Sides change their costumes to new redesigned models, although Patton's redesign would be further developed in following episodes.
212"Moving On Part 1: Exploring Nostalgia"Thomas Sanders & Joan StokesOctober 3, 2017 (2017-10-03)
Thomas is feeling really sad. He's once again remembering Guys and Dolls, which means he's remembering his first love, his former boyfriend with whom he broke up many months ago already. Logan has the idea that exploring nostalgic memories might help him gain confidence in himself and in the future, so they all move to Patton's room, which is filled with items of Thomas' past: old childhood toys, books he studied, props from plays he was part of, notebooks and diaries from his adolescence. While checking them out, Virgil starts suddenly feeling bad, on the verge of having a panic attack. Logan notices this and tells the others they must get out of the room quickly, because for "habitual worriers" like Thomas, exploring nostalgia has adverse effects: it makes them feel that the past pails in comparison to the present and worsens their anxiety. Virgil gets worse, developing a demonic voice, but the other are to hooked the nostalgic memories and don't want to listen to Logan, with Patton even yelling him to shut up. Offended, Logan leaves the room on his own, while Virgil watches him leave with a face of pure terror.[22]
223"Moving On Part 2: Dealing with a Breakup"Thomas Sanders & Joan StokesOctober 25, 2017 (2017-10-25)

After Logan's abrupt departure, Thomas realizes that he can't go on like that, torturing himself with the memories of a love that will never come back. But Roman convinces him to try and call his ex-boyfriend, and he does, but Virgil spoils this by yelling with his demonic voice to hang up. Thomas then starts telling the other Sides the story of how he and his ex met on a casting for Guys and Dolls, how they quickly became friends and started developing deeper feelings. But he also remembers there were times of fear, anger and confusion, and remembers how their love story fell apart. They also find out that, due to Thomas never stopping loving him, Patton, as Thomas' heart, has also retained this pain for himself, and they discover that many times Patton made dad jokes and showed himself over emotional or overly happy, he was in fact hiding this pain from the others. So the other tell him that he mustn't do that and that it is ok feeling sad some times. So they all reach the conclusion that, even on the probable case that Thomas could never completely forget his ex-boyfriend, he must move on and learn to live with that feeling with hope for the future.[23]

Note: At the end of the episode, Patton completes the change of his costume, phasing out the cardigan previously tied to his shoulders, replacing it with a cat-hoodie that Logan gives him as a present.

It's the first Christmas that Virgil spends with his new friends, so Roman and Patton have the idea of knitting "ugly sweaters" for each of them, and Roman writes his own version of the 12 Days of Christmas for them to sing together. But they don't completely agree on the lyrics that Roman has written for them, especially Virgil, whose line doesn't make any sense to him, so he repeatedly refuses to sing it, placing Roman on the verge of a nervous breakdown.[24]
245"Can Lying be Good??"Thomas Sanders & Joan StokesFebruary 3, 2018 (2018-02-03)

But the two Sides' ideas of a fulfilling life differ greatly, and the two fight over who is right about what Thomas needs.[26]
267"Crofter's: The Musical"Thomas Sanders & Joan StokesApril 19, 2018 (2018-04-19)
Thomas, Logan and Roman sing a song commemorating their partnership with Crofter's and the release of a new flavor of Crofter's inspired on Logan. However, Roman is jealous that the jelly is named after Logan and not him and feels worried and insecure, wondering if princes like him are getting outdated in modern world and if he could be losing the audience's affection.[27]
