List of Paris Saint-Germain F.C. presidents

Paris Saint-Germain Football Club is a French professional association football club founded in 1970, and based in the city of Paris in France. The club's first team play in the highest tier of French football, the Ligue 1.[1] Since its inception, Paris SG have had 17 presidents. Nasser Al-Khelaïfi is the current president.[2]

Background

Pierre-Étienne Guyot was the club's first president.[2] Famous Parisian couturier Daniel Hechter left his mark on the club by designing PSG's iconic home shirt after becoming president in 1973. Nicknamed « Hechter shirt », the jersey is blue with a red central and vertical band framed by white edgings.[3] He also introduced the Eiffel Tower in the club's historic crest.[4]

In 1978, Hechter was replaced by Francis Borelli, who became the club's longest-serving president. During his 13 years in charge, PSG won its first major titles: two French Cups in 1982 and 1983, and the Ligue 1 title in 1986. Emblematic club president Michel Denisot, for his part, oversaw PSG's golden era in the 1990s. The club won eight trophies between 1991 and 1998.[2]

Finally, Qatari businessman Nasser Al-Khelaïfi became the club's first foreign president in 2011. Al-Khelaïfi is also PSG's most successful president in terms of trophies won, with 20. Under his tenure, the capital club has won five Ligue 1 titles, four French Cups, five French League Cups and six French Super Cups.[2]
