List of Arch Enemy members
Arch Enemy is a Swedish melodic death metal band from Halmstad. Formed in 1995, the band originally consisted of vocalist and bassist Johan Liiva, guitarist brothers Michael and Christopher Amott, and drummer Daniel Erlandsson.[1] Erlandsson was replaced by Peter Wildoer for the band's 1998 release Stigmata,[2][3] which also featured bassist Martin Bengtsson.[1] Erlandsson subsequently returned to the group, while Bengtsson was replaced at the end of 1998 by former Mercyful Fate bassist Sharlee D'Angelo.[4] Liiva remained for one more studio album – 1999's Burning Bridges – before he was replaced by Angela Gossow in 2000.[5] Arch Enemy also began collaborating with keyboardist Per Wiberg – Michael Amott's bandmate in the stoner metal group Spiritual Beggars – from the Wages of Sin album onwards.[6]
The lineup of Arch Enemy remained constant until the release of the band's sixth studio album Doomsday Machine in 2005, when it was announced that Christopher Amott would stepping down from the group temporarily, to be replaced by Firewind guitarist Gus G for future tour dates.[7] Talisman guitarist Fredrik Åkesson was later enlisted for the remainder of the album's touring cycle.[8] Amott returned to the band in early 2007,[9] but would ultimately leave again five years later, with Nick Cordle (formerly of Arsis) taking his place.[10] In early 2014, it was announced that Gossow had departed the band, with former Agonist frontwoman Alissa White-Gluz taking her place.[11] Arch Enemy's latest lineup change came shortly after Gossow's departure, when former Nevermore guitarist Jeff Loomis took over from Cordle in November 2014.[12]
