Kids Baking Championship is a competitive reality baking program produced by Levity Entertainment Group for the Food Network. The competition involves children competing to make the best dish, and are judged on presentation, taste, and creativity. All four seasons of the series have been hosted and judged by actress Valerie Bertinelli and baker Duff Goldman of Charm City Cakes fame.
The first season of the series featured several prizes for the winner of the competition, including $10,000, a full kitchen remodel for their parent's home, an article/recipe in Food Network Magazine, and their winning cake sold as a re-creation by Charm City Cakes, along with the 'Kids Baking Champion' title. That season had a pool of eight contestants. Subsequent seasons feature only the title and a prize of $25,000 for the winner, with the FNM article/recipe restored in season four, with the contestant pool rising to ten in season two, and twelve in subsequent seasons.

The first challenge is to make 2 baked goods fit for a bake sale, in two hours. In the middle of the baking, Duff Goldman and Valerie Bertinelli give the bakers a twist: to incorporate peanut butter and jelly. The 6 bakers are tasked to make a dessert imposter that looks savory but is actually sweet. The 6 choices were bagel (Hollis), sushi (Annika), pizza (Payton), taco (Cody), burger (Natalie), and spaghetti (Jackson). Duff and Valerie throw in the challenge of making the bakers incorporate a side kick to the original plan. Winner: Natalie Winner's Dish: Vanilla Cupcake Bun, Brownie Meat Patty, Coconut Lettuce, Licorice Tomatoes, and white chocolate Thousand Island Dressing with a sidekick of parmesan cheese fries (apples fried and baked with powdered sugar.) The 5 bakers are challenged to make 2 dozen stuffed puffs made from pâte à choux dough in 1 1/2 hours. Duff and Valerie throw a monkey wrench in everybody's plans by changing the plan from making all sweet to half savory. The 4 bakers are challenged to make a celebration cake for the finale. The cake must be at least three layers. Valerie and Duff throw another twist and tell the kids they need to make a "party favor" and give the kids ideas. Annika make a dark chocolate cake with a raspberry cream coat and frosting. Jackson makes a lemon cake. Hollis makes a lemon cake. Natalie creates a lemon cake with cream cheese frosting. Jackson attempts to make macarons, but they crack. He then makes shortbread. Annika makes lemon bars. Hollis makes a sugar cookie. Natalie makes a cake-in-a-jar. The judges have two standouts; Annika and Hollis. For the final challenge, the bakers are given the task of creating cakes based on common "Spring Break" destinations: the beach (Rebecca), the amusement park (Matthew) and camping (Yahshimabet). The twist is that they must include a curd filling in their cake. Winner: Rebecca Winner's Dish: A lemon chiffon cake with a strawberry buttercream with lemon and strawberry curd, decorated to look like the beach. Team are decided with a coin draw, and the winning side does not face elimination. A twist is that they must use breakfast cereal in their dessert. The lunchbox impostors had return to Kids Baking Championship, as the six remaining bakers must turn lunchbox items into desserts: tuna salad sandwich (Luke), peanut butter and jelly (Abby), chicken nuggets (Bryn), bologna sandwich (Linsey), turkey wrap (Julia), or a ham and cheese sandwich (Alex), with the twist being Duff and Val making them include a juice box juice to their dessert: strawberry lemonade (Alex), orange juice (Julia), apple juice (Luke), grape juice (Linsey), mixed berry (Abby), and passion fruit juice (Bryn). Winner: Abby Winner's Dish: A peanut butter and jelly sandwich with bread (white cake), peanut butter (pastry cream), and mixed berry jelly (juice w/ strawberries, blackberries, blueberries, etc.); as a side, a strawberry whipped cream (aka strawberry yogurt). Winner: Linsey Winner's Dish: Strawberry sugar cookies with a black, purple, pink and blue royal icing swirled on top of it. Winner: Linsey Winner's Dish: Chocolate cake with a coconut filling, raspberry buttercream, covered in marbled fondant and cake toppers (a Food Network logo, eight candles, a number 10, all done with fondant). Runners-Up: Alex and Abby Abby's Dish: Vanilla bean cake with strawberry and lime buttercreams decorated with frosting-and-pearl flowers, each layer wrapped in fondant (bottom with fondant "balloons", the top rolled on with sprinkles and a fondant "10" cake topper.
