Biography
Kian Robert Lawley was born on September 2, 1995, in Sioux City, Iowa. He has Polish, Irish and German heritage.[4] At a young age, his family moved to San Clemente, California, where he would grow up and meet his best friends, and would eventually go on to start a channel called O2L (Our2ndLife), which ended in 2014. Lawley then created a channel with best friend Jc Caylen called KianandJc. Kian also has a personal YouTube channel, SuperKian13.
YouTube
Lawley launched his first channel in 2010, under the name Superkian13.[5] Lawley also had a collaborative channel with Sam Pottorff in 2011, named KianSam13.
He was a part of a collaborative channel Our2ndLife (commonly known as O2L)[6] along with Jc Caylen, Ricky Dillon, Trevor Moran, Connor Franta, and best friend Sam Pottorff, before they separated in December 2014. He and Caylen launched their collaborative channel KianAndJc in January 2015. As of September 2018, KianAndJC has over 3.1 million subscribers.
Acting career
In summer 2015, he starred as Cameron in his first film, The Chosen. The film received 2 out of 5 stars on Netflix. It premiered at the 2015 VidCon convention.[7] At the 2015 Teen Choice Awards, Lawley won the award for Choice YouTuber.[8]
In 2016, he co-starred with Bella Thorne in the comedy Shovel Buddies.[9][10][11] In March 2016, the film was selected and premiered at SXSW Festival.[12][13] Lawley also played "Bean Boy" in the 2016 Tyler Perry comedy Boo! A Madea Halloween,[14] along with Jc Caylen.
In January 2017, Lawley announced his new show H8TERS with Caylen. Also that year, he appeared alongside Zoey Deutch, Halston Sage, and Logan Miller in the film Before I Fall,[15][16] for which he won the award for Choice Movie Actor: Drama at the 2017 Teen Choice Awards. In 2017 he also starred in the series, “Zac and Mia". This show follows two ordinary teenagers undergoing cancer treatment and finding hope, love and courage in exceptional circumstances. He plays Zac.
In 2018, Lawley received a nomination for a Daytime Emmy Award.[17]

Controversy
On February 5, 2018, it was announced that Lawley had been fired from The Hate U Give due to a resurfaced video showing Lawley using racially offensive slurs, resulting in his role to be recast and scenes reshot with Riverdale star KJ Apa. He also apologized on Twitter and later through a YouTube video titled "2/25/18" in which he stated that he has a voice, with which he can speak and inspire millions of people who follow him on social media.[20] He was subsequently dropped by talent agency CAA following the resurfacing of the video.[21]
