Kenny Schrub (born May 19, 1995), better known by his alias kennyS, is a French professional Counter-Strike: Global Offensive player currently playing for G2 Esports. He was named "eSports Player of the Year" at The Game Awards 2015.[1] He was considered the very best sniper in the game prior to a change to the weapon's mobility, and by Duncan "Thorin" Shields, a self-proclaimed eSports historian and controversial self-proclaimed Counter-Strike 'analyst', to have been the very best player in the game prior to that change.[2] Some of his previous teams include Titan, VeryGames, Team LDLC.com, Recursive eSports, Clan-Mystik, and Team EnVyUs. He was a professional Counter-Strike: Source player before transitioning to Global Offensive in 2012.

Career

Kenny started his Counter-Strike Career in France.[3] Kenny has been playing Counter-Strike since the age of 6, the game has been introduced to him by his brother and it all started when Kenny played on his brother's computer. Kenny had an enjoyment of Counter-Strike and it was his top escape, as stated by his mother they had a lot of family issues and since he was enjoying it was the world where he could get out of all the problems. He started Counter-Strike: Source and eventually transitioned to Counter-Strike: Global Offensive in 2012. Due to his skill and recognition he was eventually invited to tournaments in Arles, eventually he did not win many matches but it was a start to his career, that is when his parents eventually understood he would become famous in the gaming and eSports community. Him and his brothers have a 10-year difference, at the age of 8 he was already at a greater skill level than his brothers, at age 11 they decided to do a local tournament and they eventually won. That is when his brother pushed him to pursue his dream to become a professional Counter-Strike player. During the tournaments Kenny showcased his talents to national and international audiences, eventually resulting in signing to VeryGames. Kenny was later removed from the team citing a lack of experience.

2012

VeryGames placed 2nd at ESWC 2012.

2015

Titan placed 13-16th at ESL One Katowice 2015 in March. On July 20, 2015 kennyS and Dan "apEX" Madesclaire were traded to Team EnVyUs in exchange for Richard "shox" Papillon and Edouard "SmithZz" Dubourdeaux.[4][5] The next month in August, EnVyUs got second place at the second Major, ESL One Cologne 2015. At the third and final Major of 2015, DreamHack Open Cluj-Napoca 2015, kennyS and EnVyUs won the tournament after beating Natus Vincere in the finals. He also did very well in ESL One Cologne 2016, although EnVyUs finished 13th – 16th.[6] At the 2015 Game Award kennyS had the Player of the Year award.

2016

EnVyUs (eSports) Placed 1st in Global eSports Cup-Season 1, initiating the year 2016 magnificently, with a prize of $80000. Later in the year, they had placed 5-8th in the ELEAGUE Season 1 winning a prize which totaled $1000000 considering the minor placing. In September EnvyUS attended GFINITY CS:GO INVITATIONAL, winning the tournament after defeating Mousesports in the final.

2017

Kenny attended ELEAGUE Major: Atlanta in January with EnVyUs where they placed 9th-12th place. On February 3 2017, KennyS was revealed to be on a new roster under G2 eSports along with Nathan “NBK” Schmitt, Dan “apEX” Madesclaire, Richard “shox” Papillion, and Alexandre “bodyy” Pianaro. Edouard “SmithZz” Dubourdeaux was revealed to be their new coach. G2 eSports attended EPICENTER 2017 in October where they placed 3rd-4th after losing to Virtus.Pro in the semi finals.

G2 won ESL Pro League Finals Season 5 and Dreamhack Masters Malmö 2017. kennyS received the MVP title in both events.

2018

G2 eSports attended ELEAGUE Boston Major in January where they placed 5th-8th after being defeated by Cloud9 during the quarter finals.
