Kartarpur (Punjabi,Urdu: کرتارپور) is located in tehsil Shakargarh, Narowal District, Punjab, Pakistan. It is close to Pak-India border and has seen some fighting around it during 1965 and 1971 wars between two neighbours.
Ethnicity
The population Punjabi speaking Punjabi, Urdu and some people also speak English. The ethnic groups include majority Gurjars, Jats and Rajputs.
Religion
The population is predominantly Muslim. There are several masjids in the town. After the partition of India in 1947, the minority Hindus and Sikhs migrated to India while many Muslims refugees from India settled down in Kartarpur.
History
Kartarpur was established by Guru Nanak guruji in 1522,[1] and is the location of Gurdwara Kartarpur Sahib, the first Gurdwara ever built, where Guru Nanak is said to have died.

Kartarpur is located at 32°5′13″N 75°1′0″E / 32.08694°N 75.01667°E. It is located in Narowal District, Punjab, Pakistan. It has an average elevation of 155 metres (511 feet).
