Kariya is a 2003 Kannada film directed by Prem, starring Darshan Thoogudeep and Abinayasri. The sequel of this film titled Kariya 2 is set to release in 2017 starring Santosh Balaraj and Mayuri Kyatari. This film was a blockbuster hit when it released for the second time.
Plot
The Movie directed by Prem as his debut him. This film was released two times, and became hit both times. Darshan played the role of Gangster who falls in love with Abhi, Dancer.

Controversy
There is a song in the film called "Nee nanage sigadiddare acid hakuve" ("If I don't get you, I will pour acid on you"). The Karnataka State Commission for Women has asked the censor board to ban such films, claiming they encouraged crimes against women.[1]
Legacy
The sequel Kariya 2 which was unrelated to 2003 film was released in 2017. However both films were produced by Anekal Balaraju.[2]
