Karen Danczuk

Karen Danczuk (née Burke) is the former wife of Simon Danczuk, who was Member of Parliament for the Rochdale constituency from 2010-2017; she was also a local councillor for Kingsway, Rochdale metro.

Family

Karen and Simon Danczuk married in 2012.[1] They have two children. The couple separated in June 2015.[2] In July 2015, he said that he had been suffering from depression caused by his campaigning work on child sexual abuse and that this had affected their marriage.[3][4]

In the early hours of 15 August 2016, Simon Danczuk was arrested and spent two nights in a Spanish police cell after an alleged incident in Alicante with his estranged wife.[5] Karen Danczuk was taken to hospital with minor cuts and bruises.[6][7][8] The Spanish police said that Mrs Danczuk's hospital visit was because it appeared she had "fallen on glass".[9] He was not charged with an offence and was later released.[5] According to reports, his wife refused to press charges against him.[10]

Television work

Danczuk took part in 2015 in the TV programme, NHS in Crisis: Live Debate and was a participant in 2016's Celebrity Island with Bear Grylls.[11]
