Kanekonia is a genus of velvetfishes native to the western Pacific and eastern Indian oceans.[1]

There are currently four recognized species in this genus:[1][2]

  • Kanekonia florida S. Tanaka (I), 1915
  • Kanekonia leichhardti J. W. Johnson, 2013 (Leichhardt's Velvetfish)[2]
  • Kanekonia pelta Poss, 1982
  • Kanekonia queenslandica Whitley, 1952 (Deep velvetfish)
