Kalwa is a part of the Indian city of Mumbai, with railway station on the Central Line of the Mumbai Suburban Railway. Some parts of Kalwa are Kharegaon, Jama Masjid Road, Budhaji Nagar, Aai Nagar, Vitava, Parsik Nagar, Janki Nagar 1-2, Manisha Nagar, Gholai Nagar, Gunsagar Nagar. Kalwa Bridge connects Kalwa with Thane. A new bridge has been constructed to replace the old one and to ease the traffic woes faced on the old Bridge. Kalwa connects the Navi Mumbai region from Airoli onwards to Thane.
On 29 July 2014, Kalwa, along with Mumbra became first railway station in the country to get free WiFi access for commuters and general public.[1]
Rajiv Gandhi Medical College and Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Hospital which is run by Thane Municipal Corporation is located in Kalwa.
