Joshua Edward Lowe (born February 2, 1998) is an American professional baseball third baseman in the Tampa Bay Rays organization.

Career

Lowe attended Pope High School in Marietta, Georgia. He played third base and was a pitcher.[1] As a senior, he was the Gatorade Baseball Player of the Year for Georgia after hitting .391 with 11 home runs and 39 runs batted in (RBIs).[2][3] He committed to play college baseball for the Florida State Seminoles.[4]

On June 9, 2016, Lowe was drafted by the Tampa Bay Rays as the 13th pick in the first round of the 2016 MLB Draft. He spent his first professional season with the both the GCL Rays and the Princeton Rays where he batted a combined .249 with five home runs and 26 RBIs in 54 total games between both teams. Lowe spent 2017 with the Bowling Green Hot Rods where he batted .268 with eight home runs and 55 RBIs in 118 games.[5] He began 2018 with the Charlotte Stone Crabs.

Personal life

His brother, Nathaniel Lowe, also plays for the Rays organization. The two were teammates in Bowling Green before Nate was promoted to High-A Charlotte Stone Crabs.[6] His father, David, was drafted by the Seattle Mariners in the 1986 MLB Draft.[7]
