Jonathan Allen "Jon" Guerra (born September 19, 1985), who formerly went by the stage name JAGUERRA, is an American musician and artist. His first record label release was an extended play, Glass, released in 2014 by Essential Records. The first record label studio album from him, Little Songs, was released in 2015 through Essential Records. This album was his breakthrough release upon the Billboard magazine charts.

Early life

Guerra was born Jonathan Allen Guerra,[1] in Whittier, California on September 19, 1985.[1][2][3][4] Guerra's father is Alberto Guerra and mother is Monica Guerra (née, Barrionuevo), who were married on December 6, 1980 in Harris County, Texas in the City of Houston.[5] His parents went to California for a short period of time, and that is where he was born.[2][3] They moved right after he was born to Houston, where he grew up until he was twelve years old.[2][3] His parents then settled in Wheaton, Illinois, and that is where he resided until he got married.[2][3][6]

Personal life

Guerra is married to Valerie Strattan Guerra, and together they reside in Chicago, Illinois.[2][3]

Music career

His music career began when Guerra was in high school. After college in 2009 he started a Chicago-based band called Milano, a "gypsy prog-rock" indie group with co-members Valerie Guerra, Steve Enison, Justin Ferwerda, Hans Moscicke, and Alissa Strattan,[7] which broke up in 2013 after having created three studio albums,[8] several singles of which were remixed by EMD artist Hanzel.[9]Guerra continued writing, recording, and playing music, and in 2011, Guerra released a Christmas single with his wife, "It's Almost Christmas".[10] He would release an independent project, under his stage name JAGUERRA on December 1, 2013, hue.[11] His next release would be his Essential Records debut extended play, Glass, released on June 3, 2014.[12] This would be the precursor to his first studio album, released on April 21, 2015, Little Songs, with Essential Records.[13] The album was his breakthrough release upon the Billboard magazine charts, placing on the Christian Albums at No. 35, while peaking at No. 24 on the Folk Albums chart.[14] He and his wife, Valerie, released the Christmas album, It's Almost Christmas, on November 13, 2015, with Descendant Records.
