Staniforth ran Steward & Patteson with his father, a brewing company that existed into the 20th century. He was also director of Norwich Union Life Society with his father.[2]

In 1820, a new partnership of Steward, Patteson & Stewards was formed, consisting of five partners: John Staniforth Patteson, William Steward, Ambros Harboard Steward, Timothy Steward Sr. and Timothy Steward Jr.[3]

John Patteson Staniforth passed away in 1832, a year preceding his father's death.
