John B. Boles (born October 20, 1943) is an American historian. He is the William P. Hobby Professor of American History at Rice University, and the author of several books.

Early life

John B. Boles was born on October 20, 1943. He graduated from Rice University, where he earned a bachelor of arts degree in 1965.[1] He earned a PhD from the University of Virginia in 1969.[1]

Career

Boles is the William P. Hobby Professor of American History at Rice University.[1] He is the author of several books about the history of the Southern United States, religion, Rice University, and Thomas Jefferson. He is also the president of the Southern Historical Association.[2]
