Leadership

The system is presided over by the Jefferson County Board of Education, which consists of five members elected in partisan elections for six year terms. The current President is Oscar Mann.

Day-to-day operations are run by the superintendent. That post is currently held by Dr. Craig Pouncey,[3] who took over in June 2014, following the ouster of Dr. Stephen Nowlin after 16 months in office.[4]
