Jamie Demetriou

Jamie Demetriou is a British comedian, actor and writer.[1]

Early life

Demetriou attended school in North London and joined the Chickenshed Theatre, before attending Bristol University.[2]

Career

His student revue show 'Bristol Revunions' received critical acclaim at Edinburgh Fringe 2009-2011.[3] His one-man character act later drew comparisons with Steve Coogan in The Independent.[4]

Comedic television acting credits include Drunk History,[5] Tracey Ullman's Show, Fleabag, and Channel 4 sitcom Stath Lets Flats in which he stars with his sister Natasia Demetriou. It is written by Friday Night Dinner creator Robert Popper and also stars Katy Wix and Dustin Demri-Burns.[6]

He has appeared on the Scroobius Pip podcast,[7] the ‘Brian Gittins and friends podcast’,[8] as well as BBC Radio 4 Show ‘Fresh From the Fringe’.[9]

Demetriou also appeared in Paddington 2, as The Professor.[10]

Demetriou voiced Moriarty in the 2018 computer animated film, Sherlock Gnomes opposite Johnny Depp as the eponymous detective.[11]

Personal life

Demetriou is of Cypriot[12] descent. His sister Natasia Demetriou is also a stand-up comedian and comedy actress.[13]
