Izet Ibrahimi (born January 1, 1962) is an Albanian politician from Kosovo, and a former mayor of the municipality of Drenas.

Early life

Izet Ibrahimi was born near Glogovac, Kosovo to Albanian parents.[2] He finished elementary school in his birthplace, Zabel i Ulet, in 1977 while he finished high school in Prishtina in 1981.[2] He attended the Faculty of Geoscience and Technology of the University of Prishtina and graduated in 1986.

He is married to Hanumshahe Zogaj, a Geoscience engineer, and he has three children: Qëndrim, Hekuran and Erëza.

Education

The basic studies, completed he in 1986 at the University of Prishtina, and earned a graduate Engineer title on the theme "Material balance of Ferronikel production process".

In 1995 he enrolled the postgraduate studies, at FXM, and earned the title: Master of Technical Sciences.

After an episode of political and professional engagement for the community, he enrolled in 2008 the Doctoral thesis titled: "Opportunities to bramces exploitation of ferronikel for producing construction materials", which defended at the Faculty of Geoscience and Technology of University of Pristina and received the academic title: Doctor of Technical Sciences.

Political commitment

Izet Ibrahimi has a political activist for more than three decades. As a young man, he was engaged for the concept of a liberated and independent country among of the Students organizations, and Ibrahimi has contributed for the Kosovo Liberation Army. He served to the community as: - Chairman of the Independent Union of "Ferronikel"

- Chairman of the Municipal Council for Finance

- Political Chairman of KLA in Operative Zone of Drenica

- Fellow Worker of Fehmi Lladrovci and Jakup Krasniqi

After the Liberation of Kosovo, he has co-founded and led the Democratic Party of Kosovo in Drenas, and as a member of the General Board of PDK, for three terms.

On the first democratic elections after the Kosovo War, he run for Mayor of Drenas from PDK, and won a high approval, over 90%. During that time he and his team tried to rebuild the city and the villages, that were destroyed by the Serbian paramilitary army.

Areas of their work were: Health, Education, Employment and Social Temptations for families. They tried to commemorate those who fought for freedom and liberation by raising for them monuments, the school and roads were appointed by their names.

After leaving the PDK, Mr.Ibrahimi founded and led the "Citizens Initiative for Drenas", a political movement that opposed the misrule in Drenas. Now, he has retired politics, and is dedicated to the professional work as a lecturer at UM on geoscience and metallurgy faculty.
