The Island Hospital is a 300-bed private hospital in the city of George Town in Penang, Malaysia.[1] Established in 1996, it has more than 50 specialists and about 20 consultant centres.[1][2][3] This relatively new hospital is capable of serving 290 in-patients and 650 out-patients on any given day.[2]

History

Island Hospital was founded in 1996, with the construction of the hospital eventually taking a mere 10 months.[4] In 2017, the Penang state government announced plans to build a separate, affiliated hospital, named the Island Medical City, at Peel Avenue.[5] Upon completion, the project is expected to expand the hospital's capacity by 300 beds.

Also in 2017, Island Hospital was named the Malaysia Medical Tourism Hospital of the Year by Frost & Sullivan.[6]

Services

The following medical treatments are provided by the hospital.[2]
