Hyouka: Forbidden Secrets (氷菓, Hyōka) is a 2017 Japanese mystery film based on the novel Hyouka by Honobu Yonezawa. It stars Kento Yamazaki and Alice Hirose,[1] and it is directed by Mari Asato. It was released on November 3, 2017 and distributed by Kadokawa Pictures.[2]

Plot

Hotaro Oreki (Kento Yamazaki) is a freshman at Kamiyama high school. He has the principle of energy-saving with motto "If I don’t have to do it, I won’t. If I have to do it, I’ll make it quick". He did not participate in any club activities at his school, however Hotaro finally has to enter the Classic literature club because of being forced by his sister. At the club he met other student, Eru Chitanda (Alice Hirose) an innocent girl from one of the most prominent family in that town who had a great curiosity. Together with two of Hotaro's friend Satoshi Fukube (Amane Okayama) and Mayaka Ibara (Fujiko Kojima), they become members of the club. Many events have caused them to solve various mysteries in their school including the most important mysteries about a Hyouka anthologi which published 33 years ago that relating to the disappearance of Eru's uncle, Jun Sekiya (Kanata Hongo) for 10 years. She asked help from Hotaro to find out what her uncle said when she was a child that made her cry. The four of them begin trying to reveal what really happened to Eru's uncle which related to the Hyouka anthologi and their school festival.
