The Hunter 31 is a series of American sailboats that was first built in 1983.[1][2][3][4]
The series was built by Hunter Marine in the United States, but it is now out of production.[1]
Design
The Hunter 31 series are all small recreational keelboats, built predominantly of fiberglass.[1][2][3][4]
Variants
- Hunter 31
- This model was designed by Cortland Steck, introduced in 1983 and produced until 1987. It has a reverse transom, a length overall of 31.33 ft (9.5 m), a waterline length of 26.25 ft (8.0 m), displaces 9,700 lb (4,400 kg) and carries 4,000 lb (1,814 kg) of ballast. The boat has a draft of 5.30 ft (1.62 m) with the standard keel and 4.00 ft (1.22 m) with the optional shoal draft keel. The boat is fitted with a Japanese Yanmar diesel engine of 16 hp (12 kW). The fuel tank holds 18 U.S. gallons (68 L; 15 imp gal) and the fresh water tank has a capacity of 33 U.S. gallons (120 L; 27 imp gal). The full keel boat has a PHRF racing average handicap of 168 with a high of 174 and low of 162. The shoal keel version has a PHRF racing average handicap of 171 with a high of 180 and low of 162. Both models have hull speeds of 6.87 kn (12.72 km/h).[1][2][4]

- This model was designed by Hunter Design and originally introduced in 2005 as the Hunter 30. In 2006 it was renamed the Hunter 31-2 and produced until 2009. It has a walk-through transom, a length overall of 30.00 ft (9.1 m), a waterline length of 28.08 ft (8.6 m), displaces 8,505 lb (3,858 kg) and carries 2,571 lb (1,166 kg) of ballast. The boat has a draft of 3.92 ft (1.19 m) with the standard keel and 5.5 ft (1.7 m) with the optional deep draft keel. The boat is fitted with an inboard diesel engine. The fuel tank holds 25 U.S. gallons (95 L; 21 imp gal) and the fresh water tank has a capacity of 50 U.S. gallons (190 L; 42 imp gal).[3]
