Hugo Martínez (born 1941) is a retired Colombian police general. He was assigned the new commander of the Search Bloc, a unit of the National Police of Colombia assembled by President César Gaviria in 1992; and tasked with the sole objective of the apprehension of drug lord Pablo Escobar and his associates.

Martínez retired to the city of Bogotá.[1]

In fiction

In the Netflix series Narcos, Hugo Martínez served as inspiration for the character Colonel Horacio Carillo portrayed by Maurice Compte.[2][3][4]

In Narcos, Martínez was introduced as a character portrayed by Juan Pablo Shuk.
