Hove College

Hove College is situated in the city of Brighton and Hove. The college is located near Hove's famous Plameira Square and is at opposite direction to the County Cricket Ground Hove.[1] The college is a private not-for-profit company limited. Founded in 1977, the college provides training in multimedia, business and design studies.[2] Hove College used to be part of British Study Centres[3] and West London College. However has separated from them and now remains an independent stand alone private not for profit college in the UK.

Course Specifications

Hove College delivers and issue courses at Certificate, Diploma, and Advanced diploma levels. The course content are accredited & approved by OCN London also known as "Open College Network London Region ".[4]

The College courses consist of modular units which are aligned to provide students with the academic profile to support progression into final year of university degree programmes. The courses focus on a blend of professional and academic criteria.

Course Duration:

  • 18 Weeks Certificate course.
  • 36 Weeks (1 year) Diploma courses.
  • 72 Weeks (2-years) are the Advanced diploma courses.

Admissions

The admission requirements vary by person to person and the college adopts a modern perception to it. Hove College attracts many university graduates and people with strong secondary education, or its equivalent. However, there are strict entry requirements for English language skills for all overseas students. Overall the selection criteria is based on individuals merit, their work experience level of qualification and there motive for progression.[5]

Hove College's qualification are recognised all over the UK by higher education institution in the private and public UK sector. The college also has formal progression agreements with University of Brighton and Southampton Solent University as well as University of Kent through K College. Hove College is one of the few private UK colleges to also have a Tier 4 sponsor[9] license, due to the tough crack downs[10] of private colleges in the UK by Home Office.

Hove College has an international agreement with their partner college in China, the Shanghai Culture & Creativity College (SCCC)[17] and offers optional Shanghai placement for those at Hove College who want an international experience. The Shanghai Culture & Creativity College runs exactly the same programmes in China for its local students so it simplifies the study situation for Hove College students to transfer there for one module of their programme.

Media Spotlight

Hove College has attracted the local news 'The Argus' as it is one of the sponsors for the Argus Youth In Action Awards[18], the college is actively enrolling and helping build local students lives and promoting their skills and talent. The college participates in many local community/educational events.

Location

Located in the city of Brighton & Hove where also The famous YouTube star Pewdiepie is reported to live around Hove's Regency/Palmeira Square Area , Brighton which is roughly 10 to 15 mins walking distance from the college.[19] The college is also distance away from the public bus stop and transport, making it very accessible for students. The Brighton and Hove beach is also accessible from Hove Lawns [20] and is roughly 15 minutes walk from the college.
