HotelQuickly is a booking website and smartphone app, available for Android and iOS devices, that allows users to find discounted hotels throughout the world.[1][2][3] The service has access to over 250,000 hotels and is localized to 17 different languages, including Thai; Vietnamese; Japanese; traditional and simplified Chinese; and English.[4][5]
History
HotelQuickly was founded in December 2012 by Tomas Laboutka (CEO), Christian Mischler (COO & CMO), Michal Juhas (CTO), Mario Peng (CFO), and Raphael Cohen (CSO).[6][7] Laboutka and Juhas previously founded ventures in Central Europe, Mischler and Cohen were co-founders and Managing Directors of Rocket Internet ventures in Asia, and Peng joined from global private equity fund Partners Group.[8][9] Mischler is also currently serving as a partner at Swiss Founders Fund.
The following March, HotelQuickly was launched publicly in Hong Kong, Taiwan, Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore, and Indonesia. Within less than a year, we had expanded to Vietnam, Cambodia, and Macau, as well as overseas to Australia and New Zealand, making HotelQuickly the first to provide last-minute mobile-only hotel booking on the two continents.[10][11][12]
In August 2013, HotelQuickly secured HK$9 million in angel funding.[13] Investors included Koh Boon Hwee, former Chairman of Singtel and Chairman of Singapore Airlines and board member of several private companies such as Singapore’s Temasek Holdings.[14] US$4.5 million in Series A-1 funding was raised in the Spring 2014, bringing the total funds raised to US$5.65 million.[15] The second round was led by GREE and co-invested by William E. Heinecke, Chairman and CEO of Minor International.[16][17]
In 2016, HotelQuickly expanded in the Asia-Pacific region to the Philippines, Myanmar, Laos, South Korea and Japan bringing the number of available countries on the application to 16.[18][19][20] At the end of February 2016, HotelQuickly announced the acquisition of Japanese last-minute hotel booking app Tonight, which was acquired for an undisclosed amount and was fully integrated into HotelQuickly.[20]
