Hinomaru Sumo[1] (火ノ丸相撲, Hinomaru Zumō) is an ongoing Japanese sumo shōnen manga series written and illustrated by Kawada. It's published by Shueisha, with serialization on Weekly Shōnen Jump magazine since May 26, 2014[2] and with 22 volumes compiling the chapters released so far. An 24-episode anime television series adaptation by Gonzo has been announced, and will premiere in October 5, 2018.[3][4] Funimation has licensed the anime series for a simuldub.[5] The opening theme is "FIRE GROUND" by Official HIGE DANdism, and the ending theme will be performed by Omedetai Atama de Nani Yori.[6]

Reception

Volume 1 reached the 40th place on the weekly Oricon manga charts and, as of September 7, 2014, had sold 19,924 copies;[15] volume 3 reached the 20th place and, as of February 8, 2015, had sold 27,002 copies.[16]

It was placed 14th in Zenkoku Shotenin ga Eranda Osusume Comic 2015.[17] It was also nominated for Best Shōnen Manga at the 39th Kodansha Manga Awards.[18]
