Hema Sardesai also known as Hemaa Sardesai is an Indian playback singer, Hema, hails from Goa, in India, and was born in Mumbai.

Early life

Her talent was first discovered at the tender age of six by her school teacher, Late Mrs. Sequiera. She made her stage debut at 8 years, at the popular Navratri Festival where her talent was further endorsed by the Gujarati Samaj. She has accomplished the Sangeet Visharad in Indian Classical music, besides nurturing her passion for Western Pop music[1].who has sung several songs for Bollywood films[2], and has released several Indipop albums.[3].Sardesai is the only Indian Singer to win the Grand Prix at the International Pop Song Festival in Germany, and the only female singer other than Lata Mangeshkar to perform at the celebrations for the 50th year of India's Independence day.

  • 2015- On the 9th of Oct 2015, Hemaa was honoured with the Icon of the Year award at the 35th Brands Academy Awards evening[4].
  • 2015-In March 2015, Hemaa was also honoured with the Woman of the Year award, by Very. The event honours a leading lady of substance every year, for her unparalleled contribution to society across various fields.[4]
  • 2015-In March 2015, Hemaa was selected for the Karmaveer Puraskaar award held in New Delhi for her able activity to many a social cause, above all for her silent contribution to the causes.[4]
  • 2014-On Aug 2014, Hemaa was honoured with the PHD Excellence award in New Delhi.[4]
  • Hemaa was awarded the Hiramanek award titled International Women Achievers award, for her achievements.[4]
  • Hemaa is also the recipient of the International Achievers Award at the International Women's Conference of Art Of Living.[4]
  • MTV Immies nominated Hemaa as 'Best Female Singer', for her song 'Qayamat' from the film Qayamat.[4][5]
