Helen Joyce Gabriel Flanagan (born 7 August 1990)[1] is an English actress, model, and television personality. She played the role of Rosie Webster in the ITV soap opera Coronation Street from 2000-2012 and reprised the role in 2017, before going off on maternity leave on 8 June 2018.[2] She was voted the most attractive British celebrity in the 2013 FHM 100 Sexiest Women in the World poll.[3][4]
Early life
Flanagan was born in Bury, Greater Manchester, England.[5] She attended Westholme School in Blackburn, Lancashire.[3]
Career
Flanagan first appeared as Rosie Webster in Coronation Street in January 2000.[2] In 2006, she was nominated for the award of "Best Dramatic Performance from a Young Actor or Actress" at the British Soap Awards, losing to Ellis Hollins of Hollyoaks.[4] In 2007, she was nominated for "Villain of the Year" at the same awards, this time losing to Coronation Street co-star Jack P. Shepherd.[4] In 2010, Flanagan appeared in Coronation Street spin-off Coronation Street: A Knights Tale as her character Rosie Webster. Then in 2011, she had her own Coronation Street spin-off Just Rosie, which explored her character Rosie Webster trying to build a modelling career in London. In October 2011, Flanagan announced that she would leave Coronation Street in February 2012 to pursue other interests.[6]
In November 2012, Flanagan participated in the twelfth series of I'm a Celebrity...Get Me Out of Here!,[3] finishing in seventh place out of the 12 celebrities who appeared.[4][7]
In September 2013 she appeared in Celebrity Super Spa, a reality-television programme based in a Liverpool Salon on Channel 5. Also in 2013, Flanagan appeared in the music video for 'The Neo-Kalashnikovs' song "Gorgeous Baby".[8]
In January 2014, Flanagan starred in an episode of Celebrity Wedding Planner along with Hugo Taylor on Channel 5.[9] The following August she appeared as agency nurse Kirsty Brompton in an episode of Holby City.[10]
In October 2016 it was announced Flanagan would reprise her role as Rosie in Coronation Street in February 2017.[11]
Modelling work
Flanagan posed topless as a Page 3 girl in the 10 September 2013 edition of The Sun.[12][13]
Personal life
Flanagan has been in a relationship with Celtic FC winger Scott Sinclair since 2009,[14][15] with whom she lives.[3] In December 2012, she spoke of her battle with depression and anxiety, and stated that she had been prescribed medication for ADHD and bipolar disorder.[16]
In June 2013, Flanagan and Sinclair's house in Prestbury, Cheshire was burgled.[3] Flanagan was at home on the night of the incident; the thieves escaped with a mobile phone and items of jewellery.[3] She was reported by her spokesman to be "naturally very shaken" but "unharmed".[3]
Flanagan and Sinclair's daughter, Matilda Jessica Sinclair, was born on 29 June 2015.[17] On 22 June 2018, Flanagan and Sinclair's second daughter, Delilah Ruby Sinclair, was born.[18]
On 31 May 2018, it was revealed that Helen Flanagan and Scott Sinclair had got engaged.
On 22 June 2018, Flanagan gave birth to her second child, a daughter named Delilah Ruby Sinclair at 17:18 at Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Glasgow. The baby weighed 6lbs 15oz, and Flanagan experienced hyperemesis gravidarum during the pregnancy.[19]
