Lưu Esther (born June 22, 1985), known professionally as Hari Won, is a Vietnamese-Korean singer and actress.[1]

Life and career

Hari Won was born in Seoul, South Korea on June 22, 1985. Her father is Vietnamese and her mother is Korean. Her father came to Korea in 70s and met her mother then. Their marriage wasn't accepted by her mother's family as at that time, her father didn't own many properties, thus Korean are not open minded toward biracial marriages. However, they still got married without much approval. As documented by KBS, she had an unhappy childhood since her mother's family never accept the marriage of her parents. Moreover, her family was discriminated for being biracial family. Her name means "you will get anything you wish for" in Korean. "Won" is "Nguyen" in Korean.

She moved to Vietnam in 2007 because her dad fell ill and has been there ever since. In 2010, she started learning Vietnamese at Ho Chi Minh University of Social Science and Humanities. She is currently living and working in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. She can speak Vietnamese, Korean, English and a little Japanese.[2][3][4]

Career

After coming back to Korea, she became a member of KISS girlgroup in 2001. Unfortunately, they didn't have much success in Korea. Thank to her contact back in Vietnam, her group got chances to perform in Vietnam as K-Pop was popular back then. After some performances, as the audience paid so much attention at her who could speak fluent Vietnamese, she decided to relocated in Vietnam for her career.

She was one of the contestants of Cuoc Dua Ky Thu 2013 (Amazing Race) alongside her then boyfriend - rapper Dinh Tien Dat. Also in that show, she became more well known.

She has released singles like Hoa Tuyet, Huong Dem Bay Xa,...also performed at some music shows like Mai Vang Ket Noi. She can sing in Vietnamese, Korean and English. She also acted in the movie Chang Trai Nam Ay alongside Son Tung M-TP, as well as some more movies: Benh Vien Ma, Trum Co, 49 Ngay,..

In 2016, she was a judge of Bien Hoa Hoan Hao alongside Tran Thanh, Chi Tai and Viet Trinh.

Personal life

In January 2015, she confirmed to have broken up with Dinh Tien Dat after 9 year relationship. Following some issues in 2015 leading to official break up in November 2015. One year later, she married Vietnamese actor and comedian Huỳnh Trấn Thành on December 25, 2016 in Ho Chi Minh City.
