Hammouda Youssef Sabbagh (Arabic: حمودة يوسف الصباغ, born 1959 in Al-Hasakah)[1] is a Syrian politician who has been the Speaker of the People's Council of Syria since September 2017.[2] He is the first Syriac Orthodox Christian[3] to have held the post,[4] and overall the second Christian to hold that post since Fares al-Khoury.[5]
He was elected speaker of parliament with 193 votes on 252.[5]
