Gujarat Forensic Sciences University (GFSU) is a state university in Gandhinagar, Gujarat. It is the first university in the world solely dedicated to forensic and investigative science.[1] It was created by Act 17 passed in the Gujarat Legislative Assembly on 30 September 2008.[2][3][4][5]

Courses

The university has the Institute of Forensic Science, Institute Research & Development and Institute of Behavioral Science attached to it, with the Institute of Medico-legal Science and Institute of Technology and Management being launched in 2011.[6]

In 2014, the university collaborated with Hyderabad-based eSF Labs to start a Master of Technology course in cyber security and incident response.[7] On 14 December 2015, it entered into an association with Indian Police Foundation and Institute, New Delhi.[8]

Campus

In 2011, it was reported that GFSU would get a campus that would be developed on 50,000 square metres (540,000 sq ft) of land.Now it has a campus with every facility (a small pool).[6]

Conference

In March 2015, the university hosted an International Conference on Cyber Security, with an aim to convene the best minds in cyber security under one roof.

Placements

University has a satisfactory placement record across its various streams. Stream with highest placements is M.Tech in Cyber Security under Institute of Forensic Sciences. Following firms have visited and selected students for internship as well as jobs:

Controversy

GFSU has faced multiple court petitions and appeals due to various governance issues.
