Gibril Sankoh (born 15 May 1983 in Freetown) is a Sierra Leone footballer who currently plays as a centre back for Chinese side Meizhou Kejia.

Career

After five years with FC Groningen in the Dutch Eredivisie, Sankoh left the club on 20 May 2010 and signed for FC Augsburg. His former teams are De Kennemers and Stormvogels Telstar.[1]

On 6 February 2013, Sankoh transferred to China League One side Henan Jianye.[2]

International career

Sankoh was born in Sierra Leone but grew up in the Netherlands. He didn't play for the Leone Stars for a long time for different reasons, among a claim he would dislike long flights.

On 8 September 2012, at the age of 29, he finally made his debut for the West African nation in a qualification match against Tunisia for the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations. The Leone Stars were just slightly eliminated and Sankoh got a red card in the second match against the same team on 13 October.
