GhostBSD is a Unix-like operating system based on FreeBSD,[1] with Xfce and MATE as its default desktop environments (GNOME was the previous desktop environment). It aims to be easy to install, ready-to-use and easy to use. The project goal is to combine security, privacy, stability, usability, openness, freedom and to be free of charge.

In May 2018 it was announced that a future version of the operating system will be based on TrueOS.[2]
