Gharidah Farooqi (Urdu: غریدہ فاروقی) was born on 1 April 1978 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. She is a journalist and has been a television host on many different TV channels in Pakistan.[1]

Gharidah has worked with Pakistan Television Network (PTV), ATV, Dunya TV, Geo News, Samaa TV (in 2012)[2] and is currently (in 2017) a Senior Anchor Person at Express News. Gharidah Farooqi has hosted current affairs TV program "G for Gharidah" (جي فار غريده) since 2015.[3][4]

In September 2015, Gharida Farooqi interviewed Rana Sanaullah Khan, Law Minister in the provincial government of Punjab, Pakistan on her TV show G for Gharida.[3]

She is in news for her secret marriage with for Punjab Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif and she admitted it. She refuses her London video scandal for which she was criticized throughout Pakistan. She became famous after when few people misbehaved with her in Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf gathering in Multan.

In June 2016, on her TV show G for Gharida, Gharida Farooqi interviewed Maryam Nawaz on the progress of her father former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif after he underwent an open heart surgery.[5]

Controversy

On July 25th, 2017, Lahore police recovered fifteen years old maid from the home of Gharida Farooqi, where she was kept in illegal detention and was tortured[6][7][8] and on Aug 23, 2017 she reached a settlement with the mother of the maid[9].
