The Free French Camel Corps (French: Corps de Méharistes Français Libres) was a méhariste camel cavalry unit of the Free French forces under General Charles de Gaulle during World War II. The unit notably fought alongside the British Somaliland Camel Corps and saw action in East Africa and North Africa.[1][2][3]
First set up as a platoon, it was initially called Peloton Méhariste Français Libre. Its initial strength was estimated to about 15-20 camels with riders.
