Florida's 27th congressional district is an electoral district for the U.S. Congress and was created in South Florida during 2012, effective January 2013, as a result of the 2010 Census.[5] The first candidates ran in the 2012 House elections, and the winner was seated for the 113th Congress on January 3, 2013.

The 27th district is located in far South Florida, inside Miami-Dade County. It contains a large part of the city of Miami, as well as all of the municipalities of Miami Beach, Coral Gables, West Miami, South Miami, Pinecrest, Cutler Bay, Palmetto Bay, Key Biscayne, and North Bay Village.[6][7] The heavily Cuban American neighborhood of Little Havana is situated in this district.[8] Ileana Ros-Lehtinen, the incumbent Congresswoman from the 18th district, was seated January 2013 in the redistricted district. On April 30, 2017, she announced that she would not be running for re-election in 2018.[9]
