The FAO Women's League (FWL) or Odisha Women's League is the highest state level women's football league in Odisha. The FAO Women's League (FWL) is organised by the Football Association of Odisha (FAO), the official football governing body of Odisha, India.[1]

History

The FAO Women's eague was brought up as AT Group Women's Football League in the year 2011 as Odisha's premier level women's football league. The Football Association of Odisha introduced the league system to provide a platform for women to showcase their footballing abilities. The league system eventually continued to be a hit among the footballing enthusiasts of Odisha. Footballing talents from the FAO Women's League (FWL) are recruited in the Odisha women's football team, and eventually in India women's national football team. Since formation, the venue of the league has been Barabati Stadium in Cuttack, Odisha.[2]

Budget

The Football Association of Odisha in May 2018, finalized the overall budget to 1,000,000 Indian Rupees. The governing body will spend 605,000 Indian Rupees towards the prize money. [3] The champions of the league would be awarded with a prize money of 25,000 Indian Rupees whereas the runners-up would be awarded 15,000 Indian Rupees.
