2018 FAO Super Cup

The FAO Super Cup is the premier level football league system based in Odisha. The inaugural edition of the premier league would be played in 2018. A total of eight teams would compete in the inaugural edition i.e. the teams promoted from the FAO Football League. The FAO Super Cup would be organised every year by the Football Association of Odisha (FAO), the official football governing body of Odisha, India.

History

The year 2018 has been revolutionary for football in Odisha. Football Association of Odisha, in a total revamp, introduced the two new league systems; the premier league system i.e. the FAO Super Cup and the Inter District Football Championship, which will be played among the districts of Odisha.[1]

Budget

The Football Association of Odisha in May 2018, finalized the overall budget to 1,000,000 Indian Rupees. The governing body will spend 605,000 Indian Rupees towards the prize money. [2]

League Format

In a total revamp of the league, the FAO Football league was converted from premier league of the state to second highest level footballing league in the year 2018 as the premier state level football league was introduced by the Football Association of Odisha. The league system currently is a three-tier system consisting of Diamond, Gold' and Silver leagues. The top four teams of the Diamond League, the top three teams of Gold League and the winners of Silver League would be promoted to the FAO Super cup i.e. the premier level football league in Odisha.[3]
