European Wax Center

European Wax Center is a major chain of hair removal salons in the United States, founded and based in Aventura, Florida in 2004 and run through franchising.[1] It is the world's largest wax center brand with nearly 650 centers[2] across the United States.[3]

The salons typically are 1,200 to 1,400 square feet (130 m2) and employ 10 to 15 people.

The chain has 878 locations in the United States.[4]

History

Siblings Joshua and David Coba, founded European Wax Center as single salon in Aventura, Florida in 2004.[5] In 2008, the siblings started selling European Wax Center franchises.

Since the European Wax Center opened its first franchise in Florida in 2005, the company has opened more than 650 franchises,[6] with another 150 sold.

Franchises use a four-step waxing process. The first step cleanses the skin of makeup and skin oil, the second step uses an EWC Pre-Wax oil that allows the wax to stick to just the hair on your body and not the skin (relieving almost all the discomfort of waxing), then the third step is the application of the proprietorial EWC low-temperature wax effortlessly removing virtually all the hair in one pass, and then the fourth step of the EWC Ingrown Hair Serum which calms the skin, prevents ingrown hairs, and irritation on your skin. By FAR, the best method of hair removal. [7]

Recognition

Recently European Wax Center was named #1 of the Top 10 franchises and #82 on the list of fastest-growing companies by INC magazine in their annual INC 500 survey.[8] According to INC magazine, the franchise has experienced a 3-year growth of 2,924%.[9] In 24 months, European Wax Center grew from a local Florida-based business into a franchise giant with locations in 26 states.[10] In the Dallas market alone, expectations are to open 17 new locations,[11] by 2012. European Wax Center projects ending 2011 with a 362% revenue increase,[12] over 2010. StrawberryFrog the NY Ad Agency created the EWC brand, the branding, the innovative advertising, the look and feel as well as the motto Revealing Beautiful Skin.
