Erin Marie Hogan (born September 22, 1985) is an American actress and activist from St. Louis, Missouri. Hogan is mostly seen in horror films and American cable television. She is a mental health advocate, who in 2015 announced that she battles depression and anxiety. Erin is known to volunteer with homeless and abandoned animals. She's also known in the paranormal world as what she describes as an "optimistic skeptic."

Early life

Born near the historic The Hill, St. Louis, Missouri, Hogan began singing, acting, and dancing at a young age. She was enrolled in the Ballet Conservatory of Saint Louis where she studied before moving to COCA to continue her training. Throughout childhood, Erin participated in school plays and did some modeling on the side, but maintained a relatively normal childhood in spite of her mother's position as a prominent attorney. During high school at Soldan International Studies High School, Hogan began singing competitively and performing in community and underground theatre. She later received her degree in Film and Video Production from Webster University with a minor in Music.[1]

Career

After moving to Los Angeles to pursue acting further, Erin's career took off. She is best known for her role as Samantha Finley in Paranormal Entity, the Asylum's "mockbuster" version of the ever-popular Paranormal Activity. Hogan’s role in this “found footage” video caused a bit of confusion as many people believed she was actually dead. GQBaller.com dubbed Hogan "the only good thing to come out of Paranormal Entity."[2]

Erin recently worked her way up from background to a co-star on the third season of Showtime Network's Ray Donovan and worked a total of five episodes.

Hogan has been involved in film since an extremely early age. She began dance lessons at the age of four, singing and acting soon followed. Performing in productions such as Grease, Meet Me In St. Louis, The Sound of Music, and Bye Bye Birdie gave her the chance to flex her acting muscle. This was soon followed by multiple appearances in original shows and films. She was also a theme park performer, competitive singer, and aerial artist.

She also stars in the Asylum's Hold Your Breath and is prominent in David Gregory's The Theatre Bizarre. Her most recent releases are Throwndown and House of Manson, which made its world premier in 2014 at Twin Cities Film Festival.[3] Her portrayal of Linda Kasabian in House of Manson earned her rave reviews on horror websites and blogs.[4]

Dwelling, Hogan's newest film is announced for DVD release on July 4, 2017 through a subsidiary of Sony Pictures Home Entertainment.
