Early studio experience

Being the son of musician Greg Koch, he was able to play with professional musicians at an early age, and learned from Greg Koch's drummer, Gary Koehler. Dylan Koch was also able to play drums on three of his father's studio albums.[2]

The Koch Marshall Trio

Koch is a founding member of the Koch Marshall Trio. Greg Koch says their brand of rock came together when Dylan Koch insisted he meet Toby Lee Marshall one afternoon. The three musicians got together for an impromptu jam session that day.[3]

The three musicians first met at a studio that had a B3 organ. At their first meeting they played a shuffle in the key of G, which became the title track to this release, Toby Arrives. JD Nash of the music blog American Blues Scene wrote in 2018, "Indeed a shuffle in G, totally unrehearsed, it brings the album to life straight out of the gate."[4]

Koch Marshall Trio includes Dylan Koch on drums, Toby Lee Marshall on B3 organ and Greg Koch on guitar. The group has signed a contract with the Mascot Label Group, and they released their debut studio album on February 23, 2018 (Title: Toby Arrives) under the Mascot Label Group[5][6]

Style

Koch was mentored by Tom Brechtlein (Chick Corea/Robben Ford). He’s performed with Tallan Noble Latz and Jared James Nichols.[7]

Awards

Nominated: Drummer of the year for the 2017 Wisconsin Area Music Awards.[8]
