DuProprio is a Canadian real estate service.

Activities

DuProprio and its Anglophone siblings ComFree, make up Canada's largest commission-free real estate network.[2] Its website, DuProprio.com, lists over 28,000 properties for sale and gets 5 million visitors every month.

History

Nicolas Bouchard founded the company in 1997, in Lévis, Quebec.[3] The company, which was originally called directduproprio, became DuProprio.com in 2004, and finally became DuProprio in 2011.

In 2009, it acquired Private Real Estate, SKhomes4sale and ComFree;[4] other Canadian companies specialized in commission-free real estate sales. After the acquisition, DuProprio's brand image was revamped.[5]

By 2011, the company said that 100,000 properties had sold through the DuProprio network.[6]

In 2015, the company was purchased by Yellow Pages Group for $50 million.[7]

In 2016, the Quebec Superior Court certified a class action lawsuit by the Quebec Federation of Real Estate Boards against DuProprio alleging that its advertisements had unfairly denigrated real estate agents.[8]

In 2018, the company was purchased by Purplebricks, a United Kingdom company also offering commission-free real estate services, for $51 million.[9]
